This is a newly required security step when making purchases on the internet, developed by Visa and MasterCard to provide a higher level of protection against fraudulent card use.

Thanks to 3D Secure you can be assured that the purchase is legitimately done by the cardholder.

How does it work?

3D Secure (3DS) adds a layer of authentication on top of the CVV code commonly used to prevent card payment fraud. Customers who use a 3D Secure-enrolled card perform an additional verification step during the payment process.

What do I need to do?

Reach out to your bank so they can instruct you on how they activate and normally proceed with the activation and 3D Secure verification.

They will explain to you how you are going to confirm your purchases from that moment on with the additional verification step during your payments processes. This could be through opening the app of your bank, receiving an SMS text message or email, or by entering a temporary password or token provided by the bank.
