The security deposit is an amount payable to the landlord to protect the landlord against missing payments or damage to the property.

All our listings will indicate the amount of the security deposit in the “Monthly fee” section of the listing.

The security deposit is to be paid during/before check-in. You will need to contact your landlord to arrange the payment method.

The deposit is normally returned to you at the end of your stay so long as you haven't violated any of the terms agreed with the landlord and included in the tenancy agreement (e.g contract dates, house rules, damage to the property).

At the end of your stay, please contact your landlord to organise the return of your deposit.

We would like to kindly bring to your attention that any security deposit disputes are at the sole discretion of owners and residents as in accordance with our terms and conditions since Erasmusu is not a party of the rental agreement and therefore we cannot collect, preserve nor claim over it.

What is the difference between the security deposit and what I pay to Erasmusu?

When you book with us you need to pay the first rent payment (either one week or one month, depending on the city) from the first complete month you will stay in the property plus our booking fee*.

The first payment is held by Erasmusu and transferred to the Landlord 48 hours after check in (24 hours after check in for London) which is used towards the first full month rent payment. Upon check in you will need to pay:

After the first payment is made through Erasmusu, all further rent payments will be made directly to the landlord using the payment method described under the section “Housing rules”. The deposit, as well as any other fees required by the Landlord, will also need to be paid directly to the Landlord.

*Please note there are no booking fees or additional fees for London or Amsterdam.
